Hayes Valley Farm Film Night Next Feature:
Botany of Desire,
July 20, 2010
In collaboration with Kikim Media and KQED
Source: Hayes Valley Farm
Feature: Based on Michael Pollan’s acclaimed book, Botany of Desire, directed by Michael Schwarz, is a sensuous and eye-opening exploration into the human relationship with plants, trees and flowers, through the lens of four familiar crops: apples, potatoes, tulips and marijuana. Pollan argues that while people assume that we are domesticating plants through agricultural practices, plants might actually be controlling us through evolutionary strategies that satisfy our basic desires for sweetness, control, beauty and intoxication. “We don’t give nearly enough credit to plants,” says Pollan. “They’ve been working on us—they’ve been using us—for their own purposes.”

How cool! I wish, though, that they didn't have these events on weeknights. It's so hard to get to SF then, esp. when I have to get up at 5am the next morning.
Maybe you can Netflix it. I know… not the same thing.
you can netflix it – that's what i did 🙂 HVF often has things happening on the weekends too. Let me know if you come into the city for one and i'll join you 🙂
Sounds like a great plan!
