We want to meet you, our fabulous readers (best people in the world IMO) even if it’s just here online. So give us a quick hello and tell us a bit about your awesome selves! What are your goals, concerns, etc? Got questions? We promise we won’t bite. We all had to start somewhere and are well aware that some of you may be just starting out. We write this crazy blog for all of you and want to know what you want to know.
Hey there Dog Island Farmers, its me Urban Dirt Girl. I got a question for you. What was the first thing you did when developing your land? Did you have a master plan or just chipped away at cultivating? Also, what animals did you decide to raise first?
Thanks!
Michaela
Michaela, your questions will be answered in Wednesday's post. Thanks for asking such great ones!
Hello! My husband wants to raise a few chickens, but I'm very hesitant. We live in a city environment. We have neighbors really close to our yard. Are chickens loud? I don't want to make our neighbors angry with us if they are.
meemsnyc, great questions as well! I'll give you a nice detailed answer on Friday's post!
Hi there. I'm a new followers, not sure where I found you from. I am enjoying your photos and your farm posts.
We just got chickens a few weeks ago, plan to add a few more in October and a bee hive at Christmas time w/bees in the spring. I am expanding my garden every year and trying to learn new skills.
Thanks for the great blog!
motherhen68, thanks for following us and welcome!
Hey hey, just saying hi. I forget how I found this blog, but I love it. I grow tomatillos, tomatoes, peppers, and herbs in our tiny townhouse patch of dirt, but it is so satisfying. I just did my first batch of kosher/polish pickles and tomorrow I am doing pickled peaches and banh mi style pickled carrots. My family just loves doing homemade stuff, my husband even makes his own lemoncello for gifts.
Anywho, love the inspiration on this site!
Hi! Just found you recently and I'm a fellow homesteader…or at least striving to be one. We don't have any farm animals but I like to bake and cook and we try to be self-sufficient with our projects around our little farm.
I've been sharing lots of your great posts on twitter and I'm looking forward to learning more about all you're doing!
Tiffany, Thanks! You can also follow us on Twitter as well if you haven't already done so. We look forward to your comments!
